Jobs Vision: The Woodlands Job Search Ministry was initially established in 1993 as part of The Woodlands United Methodist Church’s Community Care Ministries.  TWJSM evolved into an alliance with The Woodlands United Methodist Church, Grace Crossing, Stonebridge Church and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in order to reach as many in the community as possible. TWJSM assists the unemployed and underemployed through the networking efforts of the ministry’s leaders and participants, congregation members, and others who volunteer their support in terms of encouragement, advice, mentoring, and acting as a point of contact for those seeking employment. A major premise of this ministry is the belief that an important criterion for a good employee/employer relationship and one that brings us together as a congregation is a common belief in the doctrines prescribed under the Christian faith. Job seekers receive spiritual and moral support, practical advice and the fellowship of sharing experiences.  They also receive encouragement through group prayer and an increased faith in God through discovery of His blessing of new opportunities. We help job seekers define their networks, target their search, develop their resume, and build the self-confidence and discipline to discover God’s plan for them and find new career opportunities. Networking is what we are all about.  Our networking effort is structured to provide Christian-based encouragement, foster self-help, and promote ideas on how to conduct a more productive job search.  We share experiences and contacts from participants, congregation members, similar ministries in other churches, community resources, guest speakers, etc. We assist job seekers with developing a process for identifying their own network in order to obtain contacts and referrals from as many sources as possible.
